DUKE HEITGER — Trumpet Trumpeter Duke Heitger moved to New Orleans in 1991 and has become one of the most sought-after players on the international jazz scene. He has performed and recorded with leading jazz artists including Dan Barrett, Dick Hyman, John Gill and Banu Gibson, and has appeared at Lincoln Center, the Hollywood Bowl and major jazz festivals throughout the U.S. and Europe. EVAN CHRISTOPHER — Clarinet Clarinetist Evan Christopher is celebrated for his virtuosity and deep commitment to the New Orleans clarinet tradition. Since moving to New Orleans in 1994, he has worked with artists ranging from Al Hirt and Preservation Hall veterans to contemporary funk and brass bands, while carrying forward the legacies of Sidney Bechet, Barney Bigard and Omer Simeon. HAL SMITH — Drums Drummer Hal Smith has been a professional musician since 1978 and is a respected figure in traditional jazz and swing. He has performed with acclaimed groups including the Dukes of Dixieland, Jim Cullum’s Jazz Band, Butch Thompson Trio, Grand Dominion Jazz Band and Yerba Buena Stompers, as well as artists in Western Swing, blues and rockabilly. KRIS TOKARSKI — Piano Pianist Kris Tokarski grew up surrounded by classical music, jazz and traditional Hungarian music before moving to New Orleans in 2011. Deeply influenced by Jelly Roll Morton, James P. Johnson, Earl Hines and Teddy Wilson, he blends early New Orleans and New York piano traditions with his bebop roots to create his own distinctive voice.
